Chapter Seventy-Three
20,000 leagues under the sea. War rages above. Every bursting bomb a flashlight. Every strike of lightning a vision. Eels slide by and clownfish laugh heartily.
A mermaid beckons me on.
I’ve nowhere to go. So, I follow.
King Neptune appears and hands me his trident. But I am no king of the sea.
He takes me hand and guides the point. A spark of light erupts from the tip. The eels start to dance and the clownfish all die, and a door lights up in the distance.
I look to King Neptune, and he merely nods. Then takes back his trident and flees.
The door in the distance glows, calling me by name.
And I kick myself forward, as the castle walls come crumbling down around me. Streaks of bubbles in their wake as they sink.
The door. The door. The door. The door.

It opens.
