I AM FIRE (a poem)

--

(painting by me)

I am fire
Though I may appear as ice
Do not come close
The heat is far too intense

A fire which scalds
Not keeps you safe and warm
For my thermostat’s busted
And the gas has sprung a leak

I am a boil
Waiting for my lance
Explosion imminent
Raise your shields and retreat

Come closer
Come closer
Come closer
I yearn
I plea
I beg from muffled soul

But I am fire
Though I may appear as ice
No locks pure as gold
I am never just right.
