MIND THE GAP (a poem)

On the inside
lies a world I call
my own.

On your inside
lies a truth
I will never know.

On the outside
lies all I will
never be.

On the outside
we wear our skin
as shells.

The space in between
infinity that holds
us apart.

What I see
is not you.

What you see
is not me.

And though we touch
we can never
be one.
