VIP (a poem)
May 14, 2021
The ladder climbs up
Up into the sky
Higher and higher
with each single rung
Don’t you know
there’s only room
for one?
Feet on fingers
crushed beneath
as everyone fights
to be first.
Win a ribbon.
Wear a badge.
Remind yourself
you
are on top.
The higher power
but no greater good.
There’s no heaven up there
only
hell.
